Evidently my last post caught the attention of some people in an Emily Deschanel fan forum, as I’ve been seeing a lot of hits coming from there. I checked out the forum to see what, if anything, was being said on the subject. Here is one representative sample:
Geez, what a jerk. But it's to be expected from this person. Their summarized profile says:
Quote:
I'm reclusive and anti-social, cynical, a little angry, and sometimes funny
Reclusive, because no one likes you. Anti-social, because once again, no one likes you. Cynical - one of the millions of reasons people don't like you. A little angry - because no one likes you, and no one likes you because you criticize real people you don't even know when you shouldn't be judging. It's one thing to criticize a fictional character or someone really horrible like Hitler, but to criticize people like Emily who haven't don't (sic) anything is cruel. I hope this guy gets kicked in the nads Sorry, rant over now.
Nothing to say about the “sometimes funny” part? How about “Sometimes funny because no one likes you so they trip you and say, ‘Have a nice trip! See you next fall!’ and you get a bloody nose and everyone gets a good laugh,” or something along those lines?
…
Okay, I admit my comments were mean – and, in fact, did so in the actual post – but kicked in the nads for daring to find fault with someone that you (probably) don’t even know?
The whole point was that in an earlier post I had stated that she was much prettier than her sister, but later in the evening I stumbled across a horribly unflattering picture of her and thought that, under the circumstances, it would be funny to post the picture and to “recant.” Was it unnecessarily cruel? I said as much.
However, I also posted a picture of her that did not zoom in and emphasize and exaggerate her flaws – You are all aware that, as a human being, she does have flaws, right? – which brought us back to my original position, which is that she is pretty.
You have to admit that she clearly does not look her best in the first picture (and it only gets worse in the full-sized, higher resolution version that I cropped it from). Were my (joking) comments uncalled for? I guess, but you have to consider one important thing: there’s no way in which Emily Deschanel was actually harmed by what I said, because a) she probably has no idea that some obscure blogger said anything about her at all and b) she wouldn’t have any reason to give a shit what I think.
In any case, I humbly apologize for offending you and for maligning Ms. Deschanel so cruelly, and I admire your willingness to jump to the defense of the woman you all love so well (presumably flaws and all).

I still say you should get kicked in the nads. I think a good nads-kicking now and then is good for your character.
