In my previous post I made some rather crude comments about singer/songwriter Liz Phair, and while I did so in the spirit of jest – with myself as the butt of the joke – I feel that I should take some time to get serious in order to clear the air and set the record straight.
I have tremendous respect for Ms. Phair as an artist, a woman, and a human being.
In addition to being very beautiful she is intelligent and articulate. Her tremendous talents as a vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist have – rightly so – garnered her commercial and critical success, awards, and a loyal fan base.
As a songwriter she is innovative, deeply personal, and uncompromisingly and unflinchingly honest and forthright.
In short, Ms. Phair is a talented, intelligent, articulate, and fully-realized human being who deserves far better treatment than to serve as a simple object of desire and lewd comments…all of which really makes me want to bang her.
