Isaac Hayes Leaves "South Park" Over Religious Parody
I can't honestly remember the last time I saw a new episode that featured Chef anyway.
Stone makes a good point about Hayes never objecting when the show made fun of other religions, but when they made fun of his own (a religion that is, even from a semi-objective standard, quite a bit sillier than most) that was going too far...even though it took him months to finally decide that they'd gone too far.
It's sort of like when Republicans complain about media bias; they aren't complaining that the media is biased at all, they're just complaining that it doesn't share their bias.
My perspective is that the media having a bias of any kind is bad, even if it's in line with my own biases.
So if it's wrong for South Park to make fun of Scientologists, it must be wrong for them to make fun of other religions as well (religions which, it's worth noting, Scientologists themselves frequently make fun of), so Hayes should apologize for the part he played in ridiculing the beliefs of others' if he's going to get all bent out of shape about having his own beliefs ridiculed.
In any case, I think it would be foolish to attempt to cast someone else as the voice of Chef. There's nobody else who can do the role justice.
