I'm actually looking forward to this movie adaptation of Alan Moore's acclaimed graphic novel, despite the fact that Moore himself referred to the screenplay as "imbecilic."
It certainly looks to be a better adaptation of Moore's work than the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" movie was, though that's not saying much.
Still, I think "V," which features a terrorist as its protagonist, is going to be a tough sell in a post-9/11 world.
In particular, I think the biggest problem will be that more Americans will be able to identify with and support the actions of the oppressive fascist government that V is fighting against to a greater extent than they will the ideals (like freedom) that V is fighting for.
As for the quality of the adaptation itself, it looks as though they're focusing more on it as an action thriller than as any sort of incisive and insightful commentary on the nature of violence, freedom, society, and the role of the individual, which is probably just as well, as I don't think there's any way to bring the full scope of the story to the screen.
In any case, I'll likely be back later with a more substantial entry.
