Another Nothing Day

Today was pretty much a nothing day.
I got up a little bit later than usual. I had intended to try to sleep in even more, but I wasn’t quite able to pull it off, so I got up.
I decided that I was going to be lazy and not go for my usual morning walk, but after sitting around for a few minutes I decided that maybe I would go for a walk, but if I did, I was going to make a stab at some amount of laziness and refuse to put in my contacts, opting instead to simply wear my prescription sunglasses.
Ultimately my laziness lost out entirely, and soon enough, my contacts in, I was well on my way to getting in my standard four miles.
I think this had less to do with any sort of discipline on my part than it did with the sheer power of habit.
While I was walking some woman had lost control of her dog and was chasing after it. Meanwhile, her friend, who had two other dogs on leashes, was hanging back and waiting for her to catch the dog and return.
As I walked past, the friend with the two dogs demonstrated that she had about as much control over the dogs as the woman chasing after the loose dog. One of the dogs (not much more than a puppy, really), came running towards me. I ignored it and kept walking, assuming that the woman would rein it in with the leash.
That was the wrong assumption, as the woman allowed the leash to remain slack while she tried to rein the dog in verbally, which the dog ignored as it jumped up at me and managed to get in a pretty good scratch on my leg.
So that was irritating.
Once I got home I made my protein shake, sat around doing not much of anything for a couple of hours, then decided to take a nap.
Over the weekend Brian had asked me if I wanted to catch “Land of the Dead” with him sometime this week. Somewhere around two today he called me, and I’m assuming that’s why.
I have to assume, as I hadn’t brought my cell phone into the bedroom with me, so when it rang on my dining room table, I couldn’t hear it over the sound of the fan I had running in my window while I dozed.
Further, though I got up just a bit after two, I didn’t look at my phone until sometime after five to notice the missed call. I tried calling him back but got voice mail.
Oh well. If he went by himself, it’s no big loss to me, as I’m only mildly interested in seeing the movie, and if he didn’t, we still have a few days before our “weekend” is over.
Threshold readers who have made use of the “subscribe” feature (all three of you) may have noticed a change last week.
Ordinarily subscribers receive an e-mail informing them that Threshold has been updated, along with the first 100 characters of the entry (or entries), but I recently changed the setting so that they receive entries in their entirety.
I thought this would be a good idea, as the method in which Bloglet, the service I use to allow people to subscribe, really doesn’t work in a useful fashion. What would be useful, I think, is a real-time (or close to it) notification via e-mail that Threshold has been updated every time it’s updated.
Instead what happens is that one e-mail is sent out sometime around 4:00 in the morning, which is not especially useful.
I may start looking around for other services, but honestly, there’s not much need for a subscription to Threshold. After all, you can be reasonably certain that at least once a day on Monday through Thursday there will be new entries.
However, as mentioned, I’ve begun having Bloglet send out the complete text of entries, as at leas that gives subscribers the opportunity to see entries without having to come here directly to so. That, at least, seems useful, but for those of you who do subscribe (again, all three of you), let me know whether or not you like it, and I will respond accordingly.
And if any of you are interested in taking advantage of this feature (though bear in mind that the formatting of the e-mail makes reading the entries even more of a chore than it already is), simply enter your e-mail address over to the right in the field below where it says “Enter your email address below to subscribe to Threshold!” and click “Subscribe.”
In any case, as mentioned, today was pretty much a nothing day, so there’s really not much else to say about it.
I’ll be back tomorrow, as per usual, so even if you’re not getting an e-mail that tells you Threshold has been updated, you can probably be reasonably certain that at some point if you check in you’ll be rewarded with a new entry.

Hello,

I'm not sure I like the "whole" entry emailed to me, as it allows me to be uber lazy.

Also, sorry I missed you when you were up. All around tapped-out. g

Despite my antipathy for pets, I don't have any real desire to be mean to them just because they annoy me. I mean, if I killed everything that irritated me, who would survive?
On the topic of the zombie dogs, though, they state that there was no evidence of brain damage after they were revived. How could they tell? I mean, they're dogs. It would be like freezing Anna Nicole Smith, reviving her, and then trying to determine if she suffered brain damage in the process. When you consider what the baseline is like, how can you actually spot any deviation from it?
