The movers were supposed to be coming sometime between 1 and 3, which was fine by me, as it would have given me some time to haul a few things over on my own and to assemble the new desk I bought yesterday. I found the one I want online for $168, but I'm still waiting on a quote for the shipping costs - not sure why it's taking so long. But in the meantime, and since I was going to eventually need a second desk anyway, I decided to just grab a cheap one to tide me over. On Saturday, though, they called to ask if they could come at 9.
As I was writing the above on Sunday the movers showed up.
The cheap desk I bought? Utterly defeated me. I had it assembled, tried to move it, it fell apart. Put it back together, fell apart again, this time beyond repair.
And I got the estimate for the shipping cost on the desk I want: it's more than the desk itself. *Sigh*
Right now I'm pretty much 99% moved in, needing to transfer over some stuff from the fridge, and that's about it. I also need to give the old place a cleaning.
The one thing I forgot to do in all of the confusion is the one thing that came back to take a big chomp out of my ass: getting the water switched over to my name.
It sucked because I took a shower last night and LOVED it. Lots of pressure, which felt very good on sore, aching muscles. So, still sore and tired even after nearly 10 hours of sleep (yesterday left me pretty exhausted), I was looking forward to getting worked over by the shower nozzle again.
$150 to get the water hooked up. *Sigh*
Also, I don't appear to have Internet. I'd stopped by on Saturday night and plugged my laptop into the router and it worked, but apparently it's dependent on the specific (cheap) router Verizon provides. When I plugged my router in yesterday, no luck, even though it says it's connected. Oh well.
I do have her cable for TV, but who knows for how long.
Anyway, still lots of stuff to do, but I wanted to just check in.
New house is cool, by the way, though there is enough of a lingering cat presence to irritate my allergies. Still, it beats barking dogs.
