I Don't Care What Other People Think

...unless they agree with me.
Recently, Popoholic had a poll asking who should play the part of Ava Lord, the titular (in more ways than one) dame in the movie adaptation of the Sin City story A Dame To Kill For.
It was originally rumored that Angelina Jolie was going to fill the role. I thought it was perfect casting, but then she was rumored to have moved on to other projects, such as the adaptation of another comic book property, Wanted, which she is currently filming.
(BTW, Wanted was a great comic. I have my problems with Mark Millar *cough*CivilWar*cough* excuse me *cough*Ultimatesisneveron-time *cough* but Wanted was one of the best, most bad-ass stories I've encountered in a long, long time. The movie, based on what I've read about it, promises to be not so much in the way of good. On a side note, Angelina plays a character who was black in the comic. When people complained about white characters being played by black actors in the movie versions, they were accused of being racist. Will the same apply to anyone who complains about the color change here?)
Anyway, with Angelina possibly out of the picture, a replacement Ava had to be found, and the next actress rumored to be up for the part was Rachel Weisz.
A fine and lovely actress, but as I contended in another post, not quite right for the part.
I suggested that, in lieu of Angelina, Scarlett Johansson would be ideal for the part.
And people argued with me.
But lo and behold, the results of the Popoholic poll, which placed Angelina as the frontrunner, as she should be, were thus:

Scarlett Johansson came in second with twenty-eight percent of the voters thinking a raven-haired Johansson should get the role. Rose McGowan came in third place, and Rachel Weisz, who was recently rumoured to be the front-runner for the role, came in fourth with the fewest number of votes. Personally, I don’t see her in the role at all.

So in your face, people who disagreed with me!
I would put Ms. Weisz ahead of Rose McGowan, though, but now that McGowan is allegedly sleeping with director Robert Rodriguez, that might improve her odds.
Of course, if the poll had gone differently, that wouldn't have proven anything, but since it (mostly) went the way I thought it should, it proves that I was right.
You can see the full results of the poll here.
Oh, and for the record, I want to reiterate that in movie adaptations of Sin City stories featuring the character of Delia, the part should be played by Monica Keena (whose cup size, impressive though it may be, I don't know).

Give me a break, you're happy over a small poll? Get over your self. For one, it’s a poll and I have seen different results from different polls on who should play Ava lord before so this poll means nothing plus any poll that thinks Rose Mcgowan and Scarlett Johansson would be a better Ava lord that Rachel Weisz is questionable. I have seen Grindhouse and Rose is pretty but can't act to save her life and the only way she would get the role of Ava Lord is when she is sleeping with the director but after how bad this film did this weekend, i don't expect her to get it. Scarlett Johansson is another actress who can't act worth a damn and could list the films to prove it. Your personal problem with Rachel Weisz over her rumored getting the role is sad.

Any poll is suspect, so I don’t put any weight to them. They could be rigged and could be tampered with to fix the results. As for who should be Ava Lord, I think Rachel Weisz is the next best choice next to Angelina Jolie.

Umm...some people take things a little bit too seriously, I think.
I happened to see a poll, it happened to jive (more or less) with what I think, so I posted an entry mentioning it.
I'm not sure exactly what it is about myself that I'm supposed to "get over."
Since you seem to know more about it than I do, could you explain to me what my "personal problem" with Rachel Weisz is? I wasn't aware that having the opinion that she's not the right person for a particular role realy counts as a "personal problem." personal there.
For the record, I happen to think she's beautiful and a fine actress (I really liked her in The Shape of Things), so honestly, I don't have a problem with her, so there's no need to sic the Rachel Weisz Anti-Defamation League on me, okay?
(And for the record, you're the one actually finding fault with actresses.)
Again, I was just posting a link to the results of a poll in what was intended to be a humorous spirit, not writing a scholarly thesis and citing the poll as supporting evidence, so the fact that it's not necessarily the most reliable source of information in the world is pretty much irrelevant.
Lighten up people. The general tone here is almost lways irreverent and is very seldom meant to be taken too seriously. You think Rachel Weisz should play Ava? Good for you. It's hardly anything to get worked up about.
I mean, it's like, "Oh my god, some jackass I don't even know said something I disagree with on a blog that nobody reads! I'd better make sure he gets over himself!"
(That being said, I recognize that I'm devoting a lot of energy to responding, but like I said, nobody reads this thing, so I don't often get comments to respond to.)

Anybody who takes what popoholic says seriously should have their head examined. Popoholic is one of the worst entertainment blogs out there.

BTW You have a great blog.

Thanks!
(And I don't take Popoholic seriously. Or any entertainment blog, for that matter. Come to think of it, I don't even take most entertainment that seriously. If I did, it probably wouldn't be terribly entertaining.)
