Staying Up Past My Bedtime

It seems odd to be up this “late” on a Thursday night, but since I get to “sleep in” until 7 tomorrow, and because I have an easier time staying awake on minimal amounts of sleep when I’m not at work, I figured I might as well make the most of it.
By “make the most of it” I mean simply stay up past 7:30.  I’m not saying that I’m accomplishing anything or doing anything interesting.
What have I been doing?  Working, rather pointlessly, on a picture.
It’s rather pointless because the whole purpose of the picture is to serve as the desktop wallpaper for my Red Hat installation, which I won’t be making much use of anytime real soon given that I haven’t been able to get the mouse to work properly.
Oh well, it’s an interesting experiment in different techniques if nothing else.
Class today was largely uneventful and I’m sure it will be tomorrow as well.
At least after I’m finished with the class I’ll only have to put in two days of actual work.
Brian only has to put in one, as his move to the other desk has also resulted in him moving to the new shift structure, so he now works Thursday through Saturday.
During class the instructor (Whose earrings I likened to something he might have borrowed from his mom, though I was mistaken in that regard.  Upon closer inspection they’re actually more “tribal” than anything else, punching big holes through his ears.  What I thought was a mirrored surface in the center is actually a hole all the way through.  They still look pretty fruity, though.) mentioned that someone he works with sets the computers dictionary set to UK English (the word “authorised” showed up as the correct spelling in a spell check he was doing on the screen).  Apparently he works with a woman who’s Norwegian, but who learned English in the UK and insists on setting things up to conform to the UK way of doing things.
Given the paucity of women in the class – with the exception of the fleeting glimpses of the receptionist obtained when walking to the men’s room – my mind immediately conjured up images of a hot, Nordic-looking woman who spoke with a British accent, and, in fact, kept going back to same throughout the day.
At some point a woman showed up to do some work on some of the computers.  Her accent – an interesting blend of British and Norwegian – demonstrated that she was, in fact, the woman mentioned earlier in the day, but sadly, she was decidedly not the woman I’d imagined, though she could have easily been carrying the woman I’d imagined inside of her.
In fact, she probably had room for three of the woman I imagined.
What a letdown.
Anyway, I think I’ll get back to work on the picture (Earlier as I was diligently working on it I kept thinking that I needed to stop and take a break – to have a cigarette.  WTF?  It’s been over two freakin’ years.) before it’s time for The Daily Show and The Colbert Report (both of which I never get to watch on Thursdays), and then bed.
