The Wait Wasn't The Hardest Part

It had been my intention to get up, go grocery shopping, and be home before 10:30 this morning.
I was up early enough that it was possible to accomplish this, but I wasn’t able to motivate myself sufficiently, so it was nearly 11 by the time I’d finished my shopping.
The reason I wanted to be home before 10:30 was that I planned to cook a chicken in the crock pot today, which takes 8 hours on low.  As I like to have dinner ready in time to sit down and watch The Simpsons (FYI, for anyone who missed it, they used the “live” opening on Sunday’s episode) at 6:30, it was necessary to have things going by 10:30.
Of course, it’s not a major issue if dinner is a bit late.  After all, who’s going to complain about it, me?  Fuck me; I’ll have dinner ready whenever I feel like it and if I don’t like it that’s too damn bad.
After I got the crock pot going I sat down and read some old comic books in digital form (Years ago The Warlord had a back-up feature called Dragonsword.  I’d only ever read the last part of the story, so, as I now have the complete series run of Warlord in digital form, I figured I’d finally get around to reading the complete story.  The verdict?  Meh.)
After that I sat down to start a marathon session of watching Batman:  Beyond, as I just picked up the complete first season on DVD last week.
It’s been a long time since I watched any episodes.  At the time, I had no idea who Darwyn Cooke was, but since then I’ve come to appreciate his particular artistic style thanks to his run on Catwoman and his work on a limited series from a couple years back called The New Frontier.
In any case, today I took note of the fact that he actually created the opening title sequence for Batman:  Beyond, so that makes one more piece of work of his that I’m greatly impressed by.
Before I got too far into the marathon, though, Brian beeped me on the Nextel and asked if I wanted to meet him for lunch.
For whatever reason, it took an extremely long time for us to get our food after we’d ordered.  Evidently it takes a lot of work to make a quesadilla and a club sandwich.
Unfortunately, the wait wasn’t worth it.  If I’d noticed that green onions were among the ingredients in the quesadilla, I might have ordered it anyway, but I certainly wouldn’t have if I’d known it would be filled to overflowing with them.
Oh well.
Once I got back home it was back to the B: B marathon.  I finished the first disc and opted to take a breather before continuing with the second.  I  may hold off until tomorrow, actually.
I just became aware of the fact that I spent the last five minutes leaning back in my chair and just sort of spacing out, so I guess my head really isn’t in the entry-writing game right now.  I may be back with more later.

That was a pretty nasty quesadilla.
