So I finally got around to framing and hanging up the third poster I had made at Zazzle and thought I would take a piture of it to post here.
I'm not sure why the photograph came out so fuzzy and noisy, but I decided that I kind of like it. It adds an intersting artistic effect to the overall image.
Framing this was a pain in the ass, as it was an unusual size (11 x 16.5), so I had to find a poster frame that was close to the right size and trim it down. That never works well for me, and this time was no exception.
Problem number one came in the form of trimming off a half inch from the picture itself, as I'd bought a 16x20 poster frame and thought that I might as well trim the picture to fit at least one of the existing factory dimensions.
I meant to take a quarter inch off the top and a quarter inch off the bottom, but somehow I marked off a half an inch on the bottom, so the white border around the picture is now asymetrical on the top and bottom.
The next problem came in the form of me accidentally trimming one of the 16" frame pieces down to 11" even though the whole point of trimming the picture had been to spare myself the bother of having to trim at least two of the four pieces.
(As a bonus, I actualy trimmed the piece down to under 11", so the frame doesn't fit together as snugly as it should)
This meant that I had to trim one of the 20" pieces down to 16", and meant that there would be three pieces that didn't have a factory-cut edge on both sides rather than just two.
At least the plastic cover cut fairly smoothly, which was a small blessing, all things considered.
It's just irritating that professional framing is so expensive, effectively ensuring that I perform the standard comedy of errors that accompanies me trying to do anything myself. I mean, to have it framed at Zazzle would have added $100 to the cost of this $11 print. Ridiculous.
Apart from my adventures in picture framing and hanging, today has been pretty uneventful.
I got up, pot a roast going in the slow cooker, and then was getting ready to take a shower before going out and shopping.
As I was getting into the shower, though, I realized that I really didn't need to go shopping. I had enough food for today and tomorrow, so there really wasn't anything that I needed.
This meant that I was free to laze about the house if I so desired, which I typically do.
Still, it seemed like I should go out and do something, so I drove over to Super Target and aimlessly wandered around for about 45 minutes looking at things I didn't really need and knew that I wouldn't actually buy and finding myself feeling even more disconnected from humanity than usual and wondering, as I often do, what exactly I was hoping to find as I ventured out into the world.
So I left without buying anything, came home, had lunch, and then decided to go for a walk.
Despite the fact that it's sunny and relatively warm today there's a strong, cold wind out, so I didn't make it very far before turning back and deciding to save the walk for another less blustery day.
Then came the picture framing adventure, and now here I am writing this and there you are up to date on my typically uneventful life.
