Winding Down

A very long day (though not as long as yesterday, which was the longest day in the history of time) is finally winding down and I thought I'd while away a bit of what remains by posting an entry.
...
Like I said, it's been a long day, so my brain is a little fried.
Yesterday Brian, who's not here today because he had to get his CPR re-certification for the fire department, brought his ant farm in to work:

No, they're not floating around in dish soap. It's actually a kind of gel that serves not only as their habitat but also as their food source.
Apparently yesterday he ordered some kind of special lamp that goes with the farm. I'm guessing that it lights the gel up and makes it look "cool." At least, I'm sure that's what he'll tell himself.
He obviously cares a great deal about his ants, but I can't help but wonder if he'd be willing to die for their sins.
On a somewhat related note, having the ants around created an almost irresistible urge in almost everyone present to pick the farm up and just shake the bejeezus out of it, which, given that we're supposedly made in His image, could go a long way towards explaining why God can't seem to resist doing the same thing to the earth.
I mean, on top of everything else, tornadoes in New Orleans? What's next, are you going to break out the magnifying glass from the bottom of your box of Celestial Cracker Jacks and start burning the people alive? Give them a break already! Go pick on that newly-discovered planet for a while or something.
In any case, there are a few things I should probably attend to.

I've been reading Chick Tracts with horrified amusement for quite some time now, and they never stop serving as a source of laughter and revulsion.
You can check more tracts out directly at http://www.chick.com/default.asp, the official Chick Publications site, though I prefer getting to them through the Jack Chick Museum of Fine Art at http://members.aol.com/monsterwax/chick.html, which gives you access to rare and out of print tracts as well as reviews of the tracts themselves.
Chick Tracts: Check them out. Be appalled. Laugh.
