I was watching TV the other day and this commercial came on for some sort of parenting self-help program. The woman who develooped the program talks aobut behavioral problems/changes with children, and asks, "Has your child become defiant?"
Given how often I see this particular misspelling, I said, to no one, "The kid probably isn't actually defiant; he or she probably just doesn't know how to spell definite."
Then I laughed.
Then I thought about how there was no one else around to be amused by my witticisim.
Then I realized that no one would have been amused anyway.
So naturally I posted it here...
