That Puts Her One Up On Me

I don't know why it took me so long to finish this picture of singer Katy Perry, but I spent most of yesterday working on it and put a couple more hours into it today.
And here it is:

For those who don't know, Katy Perry is known for the song I Kissed A Girl.
That puts her one up on me, in recent memory, at least...
As mentioned, I put a lot of time into this, and even with that investment of time and effort, I'm still not pleased with the end result. Mostly I'm not thrilled with how her face turned out. Of course, if you read What Would Tyler Durden Do? you'd get the impression that God isn't thrilled with how her face turned out either. I wouldn't agree with that, but I will say that she looks like she could be a Deschanel sister...and I'm definitely not going to say anything more on that subject.
Actually acquiring the source image took a fair amount of work. The image is from the video for her (in)famous song, but you never actually see this complete image, as the camera does a slow pan up, starting at her feet, and only showing sections.
I liked the overall image that was constructed in my mind - in particular I liked the outfit, though I also liked the pose - and decided I wanted to draw it.
To do that, I captured multiple frames from the video, then, proving that I'm at least as smart as a seven year-old girl, I installed Windows Live Photo Gallery and took advantage of its panoramic stitching feature to put all of the sections together.
(As an aside, those kids - especially the two girls - in those Windows commercials are too adorable to live.)
Normally I wouldn't be interested in drawing a picture that features a cat - I generally don't even download pictures of women with animals because I know I won't draw them - but the obvious symbolism of having a woman singing about Sapphic experimentation stroking a kitty was too much to pass up.
Beyond working on this picture, not much else has been going on. I took a break from working on it yesterday, as while I was working I was listening to music and The 1812 by Bond* came on, and that made me want to watch V For Vendetta, which I did.
Other than mentioning that I'm doing laundry today, and that I hit the comic shop and went grocery shopping yesterday, I've pretty much filled you in.

*Here's a fan-made "video" for the song; I couldn't find anything better. There's a video of them performing it live, but it ends halfway through the song, so...

Other than the non-wwtdd-approved face, I'd say this is a pretty good picture. It's a nice pose, too.
