Roll, Roll, Roll In Ze Hay...

This picture of Alley Baggett has occupied a significant portion of my time for the past two days.
There's a lot I like about it, and a lot I don't, but in any case, here it is:

I'll post a proper entry (maybe) later.

Very nice. Alley Baggett is a great subject, I think. So what about this don't you like?

Yeah, Alley is a great subject, which could explain why there are 13,000+ pictures of her collected in the baba (Burg's Alley Baggett Archive) naming convention. I don't know why I don't do more pictures of her.
Anyway, what I don't like about the image doesn't really have to do with the image itself (though I'm not thrilled about how the hat, her right eye - most of the problems with which stem from the source image and my inability to extrapolate details - or the blanket), but with certain "intangibles" relating to it.
For one thing, it took forever to draw, or at least to finish. I was working on it well into the small hours Saturday night/Sunday morning before crashing and thought that, at most, I had about an hour's worth of work left to do on it. It ended up being more like 3 and a half.
And while it may not be obvious to anyone looking at it, I took a really slapdash approach to some of the final details (simply because I was sick of working on it).
So there you go.

Fair enough. I can see what you mean about the hat and blanket. I suppose the timeframe involved in creating work like this can affect your outlook on it. Lucky us, we just get to admire the finished product.
